Energy Transition: Key to a Sustainable Future

Hydrogen (H2) is central to the global push for sustainable energy, offering a clean alternative to fossil fuels. It plays a crucial role in decarbonizing sectors that are difficult to electrify, such as heavy industry, transportation, and energy storage. When used as fuel, hydrogen emits only water vapor, making it essential in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and combatting climate change.

Another important use of hydrogen is the production of methanol or ammonia. In marine applications, one of these two fuels will be used primarily in the future. These climate-neutral fuels are produced by synthesis from green hydrogen and thus offer a future-oriented alternative to conventional marine fuels.

The transition to hydrogen requires significant infrastructure development, including renewable energy production, energy conversion/transport, storage, pipelines, refueling stations and end-applications. Green hydrogen, produced through electrolysis powered by renewable energy, is especially promising. It can store surplus energy generated from wind and solar, providing stability to power grids and fueling transportation systems.
